MINUTES OF THE YEOVILTON AND DISTRICT PARISH COUNCIL MEETING, TUESDAY 08 JULY 2025, AT ST MARY’S CHURCH, YEOVILTON 7.30PM
Present: Mr S Hodgson (Chairman) (SH), Mr R Moffa5 (Vice Chairman) (RM), Mr J Gordon (JG), Mr A Hickman (AH), Mr G Macrory (GM), Mrs N Moore, (NM) (Clerk).

- Flooding Issues:
5.1 SH is arranging a meeMng with PC and JG to discuss SRA grants from the Community Flood AcMon Fund. At least 3 quotes will be required for proposed work. The intenMon is to deepen Park Brook to add resilience to flood management and defences. This will be available unMl mid-August but if it is already exhausted, plans can be in place for 2026/27. JG felt that the acMon sMll sits with Somerset Council as they have suggested a resoluMon including Park Brook. More discussion is needed. AcNon: Clr H Hobhouse (HH) to talk to Tracy and report back at the nest meeNng.
5.2 The flood depth gauge at Limington has not yet been programmed by the contractor. The Ilchester addiMonal flood warden will be discussed at the Ilchester PC meeMng on 10 July. SH has approached flood warden volunteers for the Stockwich crossroads, both Bridgehampton and Podimore sides.
6. Open Session:
6.1 Somerset Councillors: HH gave the following report. Regarding the budget, Somerset Council have saved £35.5M this year due to a good 151 officer, who held directors to the budget. This is not an enormous amount but means that there is a reserve of £36M.

7.2 RNAS Report. PJ was unable to a5end the meeMng but gave the following report: two complaints have been received since the last meeMng, one in Limington and the other Bridgehampton. Both correct flying profiles into the airfield. PJ asked that it be reiterated that the

process for reporMng complaints is on the website, and that people should individually report complaints otherwise this will distort the picture.GM will send SH a link for the website which will provide evidence to back up complaints if necessary. AcNon: GM
7.3 Church Report: Rev B Faulkner (BF) announced that aber nearly five years, the proposed planning will take place providing be5er faciliMes for the church, including and enlarged area for community use. There will be an iniMal meeMng with the building and environmental advisor regarding heaMng. BF announced that Mckets are now on sale for the Cider and Sozzle event on

23/01011/PAMB. Higher Farm, Higher Farm Lane, Podimore. BA22 8JQ. An appeal has been lodged in respect of the applicaMon decision on changing agricultural buildings into 5 dwellings. HH has submi5ed an objecMon on the grounds of the narrow bridge over the A303. This is only a single carriageway with no faciliMes for passing. Appeal in process.
24/00557/FUL. Three Acres, Limington Rd, BA22 8XL. Change of use of the exisMng buildings to provide overnight dog boarding accommodaMon, along with staff accommodaMon above, in associaMon with day care facility. External alteraMons to the exisMng building (retrospecMve) – ObjecMon lodged. It was noted by the commi5ee that the proposed escape route was into an area which floods regularly. Therefore, this would be inappropriate evacuaMon route. HH has raised an objecMon on the fact that the neutrality rules have been ignored and staff are now sleeping on site. CondiMon: Surface Water Drainage Strategy (Compliance). The development shall only be carried out in accordance with the approved Foul Drainage in order to ensure the provision of saMsfactory drainage and avoid polluMon of the environment.
